Since October 25, unfolding sheet metal parts tells you what keeps it from succeeding, instead of failing without an explanation.
A file saved again no longer blocks the unfold
- You can import a STEP file, edit it and save it again in your CAD software, then click “Generate blank”: the unfold goes through. Before, this sequence wrongly reported that the analysis service could not be reached.
- The app unfolds the version of the file you imported. To take your changes into account, import the file again.
A part without thickness is reported right away
- A STEP file exported as surfaces, with no volume, has no thickness and cannot be unfolded. The app spots it as soon as you click and tells you so: export the part again as a solid body from your CAD software, then import it again.
- The message also appears with “Unfold all & add to project”, part by part, in French, English, German and Spanish.
- A bent surface, which the app cannot spot on its own, gets the same advice from the unfold server instead of a general error.
Unfold errors show where you work
- An unfold that fails from the “Parts” or “Sheet metal” tab now shows its message at the top of the tab. Before, it only appeared in the “Detection” tab.
