On October 8, three free calculators opened at cut-fab.com/outils/, with no account and nothing to install. The same day, the app gained a dimensioned shear plan and a Guide.
Three free tools, no account needed
- Sheet metal unfolding: drop a STEP file, single part or assembly; each checked sheet metal part is unfolded with its DXF. 5 unfoldings per day without an account.
- Bar nesting: your tube cut parts, with a miter at each end, paired miter cuts included. 30 cut parts per calculation.
- Shear nesting: your rectangles in edge-to-edge cuts, with the cut order and the back-gauge sheet.
In the bar nesting and shear nesting tools, the “Continuer dans l’app avec cette liste” (continue in the app with this list) button carries your entries into the app and runs the calculation.
Shear: a dimensioned sheet plan
In 2D nesting (then called “Sheet metal 2D”), the “Shear (straight cuts, back-gauge sheet)” cutting method draws each sheet to scale with dimensions: cuts numbered in the order of the back-gauge sheet, hatched offcuts. The layout compares several arrangements; on our test batches, it often needs fewer cuts, and never does worse than before.
The Guide
Click “Guide”, at the bottom right, and say what you want to do: the AI assistant opens the right tab and shows you the button. Five shortcuts work even without it. Open to everyone, with or without an account, it does not count against your unfolding quota. Its answers can be wrong.
